Dr. Caleb Frank Gates graduated from Beloit College in 1877. He went on to attend the Chicago Theological Seminar and Edinburgh University. After becoming an ordained Congregational minister, he worked for the American Board of Foreign Missions in Turkey, where he provided aid to Turkish citizens during the Armenian genocide.
