Ivan Stone papers
Scope and Contents
This collection is divided into two series: 1. Dean of the College, 2. Personal Papers.
Series 1 makes up the vast majority of this collection, and contains copies of correspondence and meeting minutes given to or written by Ivan Stone in his capacity as Dean of the College where he participated on numerous committees and councils. Indeed, many documents precede or follow his tenure as Dean from 1951-1964. Notable committees include Academic Performance Committee, Administration Committee and Curriculum Committee. Stone spent most of his years as Dean of the College under President Miller Upton, so there are many documents pertaining to the Beloit Plan.
The folders in Series 2 hold correspondence, news articles, and other documents during his time as a Beloit College faculty member, during his extra-curricular activities such as international committee work and travel. There are also photographs and publications written by Stone, and correspondence and other biographical materials for his wife, Janice Stone.
