This collection contains brochures, schedules, correspondence, other promotional materials, and ephemera from Beloit College’s New Student Days (also known as Freshman Days) orientation week. Also included is information regarding the College's Ten Day Language Orientation Program.

Biographical / Historical

New Student Days (known as Freshman Days until 1964) is the name for Beloit College’s freshmen, international, and transfer student orientation week that introduces students both to the Beloit College campus and community and to Beloit’s distinctive approach to the liberal arts. It describes the time at the beginning of the fall semester when, amongst other activities such as registration and getting to know their new community, new students attend First Year Initiative (FYI) seminars. During New Student Days, students meet their Initiatives advisor and other seminar participants, engage with a common reading, and attend a series of programs with topics that range from adjusting to the culture of their new environment to reflecting on community engagement.

New Student Days is organized by the Office of Student Activities.

This collection has been compiled over the years through many separate accessions of various sizes from various offices and individuals, none of which has any accompanying documentation.
