Scope and Contents

The treasurer's annual reports, early versions of which were actually published twice annually, contain balance sheets, general statements of income and expenses, and exhibits of funds. These reports were given to the Board of Trustees.

Some missing reports can be found in the bound Trustees minutes.

This collection is open for research; however, certain materials are fragile and require Archives staff for handling, or use may be restricted altogether.

Biographical / Historical

"You will find herewith the usual balance sheet, and a summary of current receipts and expenses for the latter part of the past year.

Instead, however, of presenting you with a statement of the invested funds, which would largely be a repetition of what was given in my report to you of last June, I have requested Assistant Treasurer Mears to prepare the accompanying tables of information regarding the real estate held by the College.

[P]lacing the facts before you, I will ask you to consider them carefully, and give me the benefit of your suggestions with reference to the investments, which you have of late left so largely to me."
