Theodore Lyman Wright a resident of Beloit and graduate of Beloit College class of 1880, worked as a professor of Greek and Fine Arts at Beloit College for 45 years. Prof. Wright was born in Beloit, September 13, 1858. He attended Beloit schools and graduated from Beloit College in 1880. He remained as a member of the faculty before taking a leave to earn his master's degree from Harvard University in 1884 and attend the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, Greece until 1887. He moved back to Beloit to teach at the College in 1888.

Wright married Miss Jean V. Ingham of Buffalo, N.Y., in March 1909. He was also one of the leading members of the faculty of the Bureau of University Travel. Wright earned a name for himself by working as director of Greek plays on campus that he translated, and as the author of the Beloit Pageant given in 1916.

On October 4, 1926 Wright was found unconscious in Campbell Hall, then North College. He had died of a stroke under unusual circumstances, which were the cause of much speculation. The college named the Wright Museum of Art in his memory.
