William Porter papers:
Account books, articles and sketches about, articles collected, Beloit College information, biographical information, correspondence, family letters (1830-1900), "Golden Wedding Book, July 13, 1854-1904", honors awarded, obituaries, obituaries of colleagues.



Lucius Porter papers:
The Beloit College Archives holds a series of letters circa 1947-1949 from China, which describes the rise of Communism and Chairman Mao and deal with Porter's internment before returning to the United States. Much of Lucius Porter's correspondence has been transcribed.
Athlete records, biographical data, centennial information and publications, certificates, church records, family tree information, journals, memorials, notes, original lecture notes, pamphlets, photographs, president's file, prose, publications, Sigma Chi publications, writings.

Abstract

This collection contains papers from a number of different Porter family members, but primarily includes the papers of Professor William Porter and Lucius Chapin Porter (Beloit College class of 1901). There is also a small collection of Henry Dwight Porter (class of 1867) papers. Among William Porter's papers is a vast collection of correspondence between various Porter family members.

Arrangement

This collection has been compiled over the years through separate accessions of various sizes from various offices and individuals, none of which has any accompanying documentation. The original order of the documents is unknown. The arrangement order presented here has been imposed by the College Archives staff.
