His son, Stephen Denison Peet, was in the college's first graduating class of 1851, and he went on to become a prominent archaeologist and founder of the journal American Antiquarian. This collection gathers various works about the two Stephen Peets, including articles, biographies, and genealogical research, as well as some of their correspondence, professional publications, and other miscellaneous materials. Of particular note is Stephen D. Peet's diary, which he kept from his time as a student at Beloit College from 1849-1851.
