Biographical / Historical
William "Bill" B. Knapton worked as the basketball coach for Beloit College from 1957-1997. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Knapton graduated from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse where he played basketball and baseball, going on to coach at a high school then Marquette University. He joined the Beloit College staff after the resignation of Dolph Stanley. Over his career, he accumulated 550 wins, 31 winning records, 341 Midwest Conference victories and 10 league championships, as well as earning the recognition of Coach of the Year by the Midwest Conference and the NCAA Division III Midwest Region in 1981.
