Abstract

This collection gathers documents about missionaries from Beloit College, including lectures, articles, and other writings. There are some records from the Beloit College Missionary Society, and statistics from the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM). Of particular note are documents regarding the missions of Thomas D. Christie (class of 1867) to Turkey, Caleb Frank Gates (class of 1877), and Paul E. Nilson (class of 1911).

Edward Dwight Eaton was the second president of Beloit College, serving two separate terms, 1886-1905 and 1907-1917. This collection gathers his personal and Beloit College-related correspondence, correspondence with his family, some biographical materials, inauguration documents, a few news clippings, some of his and his family's writings, and his Alumni Office file.

This collection contains mostly documents about Thomas Davidson Christie, including news articles and biographical information. There is also some of his original correspondence from his time following his graduation from Beloit College, where he talks about his upcoming plans to go to and experiences in Turkey, among other topics. There are also some photographs and materials concerning his wife, Carmelite Brewer Christie.
