Ivan Stone papers

Overview Ivan McKinley Stone was first hired at Beloit College in 1930 as a professor of Government. He served Dean of the College from 1951-1964, after which he became the first director of the World Affairs Center until his retirement in 1970. The vast majority of this collection is comprised of copies of correspondence and meeting minutes given to or written by Ivan Stone in his capacity as Dean of the College. Overview J. J. Blaisdell was one of Beloit College's five "Old Guard" members and a professor of Rhetoric, English Literature, and Philosophy from 1859 until his death in 1896. James A. Blaisdell papers

Overview This collection contains documents about and by James Arnold Blaisdell, Beloit College class of 1889, and Beloit College professor of biblical literature from 1903-1910. There is correspondence, news articles, biographical information (including a detailed genealogical history of the Blaisdell family through James A. Blaisdell), articles, an autobiography written by Blaisdell, and photographs. Most of the contents are from his time at Pomona College and the Claremont Colleges in California.

James Zwerg collection

Overview James (Jim) Zwerg, class of 1962, was highly visible in his role in the Freedom Rides of 1961. This collection contains materials related to Zwerg's Freedom Ride and his civil rights involvement, including news articles, documentary films, interviews, photographs, Zwerg's own files on anti-discrimination organizations, and correspondence regarding formal recognition of his activities as a civil rights activist.

Janvrin, Aldrich, and Neese family papers

Overview Laura Aldrich Neese was a member of the Beloit College class of 1912. She was an artist and philanthropist, and became the first female member of the Beloit College Board of Trustees. She wrote many diaries and created photo scrapbooks during her life, some of which are contained here. The collection also consists of the genealogy of her family, including Janvrin, Aldrich, and Neese branches.
