Biographical / Historical
This collection consists of manuscript material relating to an honors project undertaken by Beloit College alumnus Ethan Ley ’14 during the spring of 2014 under the supervision of Sylvia Lopez, Professor of Modern Languages & Literatures. The honors project undertaken constitutes the foundation of a larger and continuing community oral history project based within the growing population of Latinos in Beloit, WI. Nine separate oral history interviews were conducted by Ethan Ley with Latino volunteers solicited from Even Start Family Literacy Program and Stateline Literacy Council, organizations offering English as a second language courses to the greater Beloit community. Interviews and interviewees were recorded, photographed, transcribed, and/or shared through public exhibits in the Beloit College Library and Beloit Public Library, as well as through a Student Symposium and bilingual presentation presented at the Beloit Public Library in the spring of 2014. The project is ongoing through the involvement of several current students and Professor Lopez.

Arrangement
Materials in this collection have been compiled beginning in January 2014. The materials have been arranged in chronological order based on the judgment of the creator. Additions will be transferred continually to the College Archives by Ethan Ley and Sylvia López.
