Biographical / Historical
Liz Renner'92 gathered a collection on early coeducation information to write the booklet Hail to the Conquering Coed: The First Year of Coeducation, celebrating the centennial of women at Beloit College. In this second Beloit College Archives Publication, Renner describes the first decade of coeducation, such as the academic challenges and successes of the women, and the extracurricular and social activities they created or joined. The booklet is divided into five parts with an introduction and a conclusion. It begins with a general survey of women's education in the United States and then moves specifically to Beloit College's coeducational administration and opinions. While the third part expresses the first year after the women's arrival, the fourth expands by telling of the first ten years of coeducation at Beloit. The final part reveals life after Beloit for the first female graduates. With Renner's collected research, she created this series, naming it "Coming of the Coed." All the material and records included are related or associated to the Hail to the Conquering Coed: The First Year of Coeducation booklet by Liz Renner.
