Biographical / Historical

Beloit College holds several convocations each year.

The Opening Convocation, the school's traditional segue from summer to the academic semester, is held in August or September, before or just after classes officially begin. Early 20th century convocations were more religious affairs, with the Dean of Chapel leading worship services and the College choir performing Christian songs. These activities occurred along with secular proceedings such as the processional, addresses by the president of the College and other senior administrators, and the College choir performing the college songs. Opening convocation takes place in Eaton Chapel.

There is another event in January called the Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation, held around his birthday.

The Honors Day Convocation is a spring event where students are presented with academic and athletic awards.
